On this point, there have recently been more and more providers who reserve the right to cancel even up to 10-14 days before the start of the trip if the minimum number of participants (here often even 4 people) is not reached. No compensation is then paid for the costs of arrival and departure. Such agencies often present a huge programme that very quickly turns out to be a soap bubble. They work exclusively with charter ships that are only booked when enough participants are booked. It is astonishing that such a “poker game” is permitted in Germany.

Sailing in the Cyclades

Experience the enchanting beauty of the Cyclades on a sailing adventure through this picturesque Greek archipelago. Embark on a sailing adventure through the Cyclades, where the iconic white houses, chapels, and churches stand in striking contrast against the deep blue sea and endless azure sky. The Cyclades epitomize the quintessential Greek postcard, offering a picturesque blend of beauty and charm. Once a well-kept secret among backpackers, the Cyclades have evolved into a focal point of Greek tourism. With over 200 islands to explore, each with its own unique character, there is always something new to discover. While some islands may teem with visitors during the summer months, there are countless deserted coves and hidden bays waiting to be explored – accessible only by boat. The warmth of the islanders and the inviting ambiance of tavernas nestled in small harbors leave a lasting impression on all who visit.
The landscape of the Cyclades is a study in contrasts. From the barren, arid islands of Mykonos, Kea, Antiparos, Folegandros, and Delos to the surprisingly green and fertile landscapes of Naxos, Paros, and Amorgos, the region offers a diverse array of scenery. In spring, the islands burst to life with vibrant blooms and lush greenery, offering a respite from the lingering chill of northern Europe. While true bathing temperatures may not be reached until May, the Mediterranean sun beckons visitors to bask in its warmth as early as March and April.
Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply the chance to soak up the beauty of the Greek islands, the Cyclades offer an unforgettable experience for every traveler.

Sailing area of the Cyclades

The Cyclades offer a diverse and dynamic sailing area, characterized by closely spaced islands that create an array of sailing possibilities. The prevailing wind direction, typically from the northeast, often guides the course of the journey, influencing the direction of travel. As sailors, we strategically navigate these winds, utilizing “upwind courses” to gain height towards the east. While the Cyclades are known for their windy conditions, recent years have seen more moderate wind speeds, ensuring a smooth sailing experience even for larger vessels. Our well-equipped yacht handles these conditions with ease, showcasing its exceptional performance under sail.
When sailing in the Cyclades, the island of Paros serves as an ideal destination or starting point for the journey. Paros boasts miles of sandy beaches and offers opportunities for exploration, including hikes into the picturesque hinterland with its charming mountain villages. Access to Paros is convenient, with ferries operating regularly from Piraeus or Rafina, both of which are now in excellent condition. Additionally, flights from Athens provide another option for reaching the island. We can assist in coordinating your travel plans, ensuring seamless connections between your flight and ferry schedules. For accommodations on the island, we offer a range of hotel options tailored to your preferences, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay during your sailing adventure in the Cyclades.

Description of a sailing week

The Cyclades islands

Explore on an unforgettable sailing adventure through the enchanting Cyclades islands, where each day brings new discoveries and experiences. Your journey begins as you board the ship from 17:00 on the day of arrival. If you arrive earlier, feel free to leave your luggage on board and explore the surroundings, whether it’s sightseeing, shopping, or relaxing on the beach. Departure from the ship is by 10:00 am on the day of your departure.
Once on board, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your skipper and fellow sailors. Initial arrangements for the cruise will be discussed, including the proposed route and provisions. The onboard cash box will be set up to cover expenses such as food purchases, diesel, and harbor fees. The skipper is exempt from contributing to the cash box and will be catered to by the crew. Any expenses for restaurant visits are typically not covered by the onboard cash box. The first round of provisioning usually occurs on the day of arrival or the following morning. All participants share equal responsibility for life on board, including cooking, cleaning, and shopping. With everything in order, your sailing journey through the Cyclades officially commences.
Throughout the week, you’ll spend your nights in harbors or anchored in picturesque bays, with the exact itinerary determined by wind and weather conditions. While the routes outlined in our brochures offer guidance, the crew, in collaboration with the skipper, ultimately decides the course of the trip, ensuring a safe and enjoyable voyage for all.
